The Constitution of Virginia guarantees a free, high quality public education for all yet we have failed to fulfill that promise. We need leaders who look into all possible solutions to ensure that this guarantee is more than words on paper. Kyle's plan is to look into school choice, increased funding for low income communities, increase the Education Improvement Scholarship Tax Credit. Our elected officials have neglected their duty to fully vet each of these options, yet claim to not know how to fulfill this promise. Our solutions cannot be to lower standards, or continue with status quo, as Democrats have argued we should. We must work to create an education system that properly prepares the public for life after school.
The States around Virginia have veterans ending their careers in Virginia, just to make the move to another State easier. We need to cut income tax on veteran pensions and active duty income to make Virginia a more attractive option to our armed forces. Additionally, we have an obligation to ensure a good standard of living for our first responders who spend their careers in the public sector. Virginia Beach is home to one of the largest populations of Veteran in the United States, and, as a Veteran, Kyle understands the difficulties Veterans face.
From 2014-2022, Virginia was not a business friendly location and resulted in the loss of jobs, small business, and taxes. Over the last 3 years, Virginia has become a highly ranked, business friendly state and that needs to continue if we hope to fix our roads, schools, and continue to take in revenue. By cutting costs for businesses, we bring in more wealth to the community because businesses invest where they are. We see that today with community focused grants by companies in our area, and the work they do with nonprofits to solve community issues through volunteer services.
Before we can competently cut spending, we need to know how essential something is to Virginians' everyday lives, and the benefits delivered to Virginia through that spending. There is clear bloat in the budget and the government that can be cut during the next budget cycle to help bring a surplus to Virginia. A continued surplus will aid in cutting taxes for Virginians to help make living expenses more affordable.
As the Executive Director of a racial reconciliation nonprofit, Kyle has worked with leaders of various races and political backgrounds to continue the discussion of where do we need to go to ensure equality under the law. While Democrats look to create an enemy each election and divide the people against each other, Kyle looks to bring together people of different backgrounds, socio-economic statuses, and political leanings to find solutions. There are no such things as black problems, white problems, Republican issues or Democrat issues, there are only issues and problems that we have to tackle together as Virginians.
